{"id":101,"date":"2021-11-05T13:01:24","date_gmt":"2021-11-05T12:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/docenciamicrobiologia.umh.es\/?page_id=101"},"modified":"2026-01-09T11:21:45","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T10:21:45","slug":"produccion-de-pigmentos","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/docenciamicrobiologia.umh.es\/en\/indice-de-practicas\/5-identificacion-bacteriana\/produccion-de-pigmentos\/","title":{"rendered":"Pigment production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><br \/>\nIts formation in many microorganisms depends on the presence of light, the composition of the substrate and the incubation temperature.<br \/>\nSome bacteria can synthesize pigments that would be observed in both general culture media and also in media with other substrates.<\/p>\n<p>The<em> Pseudomonas<\/em> synthesize, according to their species, different pigments such as for example the pyocyanin that turns cultures blue, which means that they can be identified. The fluorescein or pyoverdine turn colonies a fluorescent green color. This pigment has <em>Pseudomonas<\/em> fluorescens.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>S. aureus<\/em> colonies also look pigmented in general culture media.
