Schistosoma mansoni
Schistosoma mansoni is a species of digenea trematoda, human parasitic flatworms that cause the disease known as schistosomiasis. They are distinguished from other trematoda because the sexes are separate (the majority of the trematoda are hermaphrodite).
The life cycle includes two hosts: humans (definitive host) and a mollusk (intermediary host). It is the only etiologic agent that causes schistosomiasis in Latin America.
